Galee – गली Scarf in Island Blue
The Galee scarf (called dupatta in India) is hand block printed on a cotton silk mix fabric with carved woodblocks in Jaipur, India.
The art of block printing has not changed for hundreds of years and is a craft that is passed down though generations of printers who, with incredible accuracy and skill, are able to create the most intricate designs. Each layer of colour is carved in mirror image into a woodblock and these blocks are then used one at a time to apply the design onto the surface of the fabric which is stretched out along a long printing table. This level of handmade craftsmanship is something that we at Blocked by Clark love to see and wish to continue supporting.
Galee meaning lane in Hindi is inspired by the patterns found in the maze of cobbled streets on the Greek Island of Mykonos and in towns and villages dotted around the wild and wonderful Greek Islands. Scattered across the bright white houses are striking wooden windows, doors and banisters in blues and greens that have infused this print. Whether you choose our luxurious Island Blue or gentle Sage Green you are sure keep a piece of paradise with you. Galee was exclusively developed for the traditional art of hand block printing.
The scarf is lightweight and is the perfect accessory for all weathers.
Due to the handmade process variation in the colour and print work should be expected, so no two designs will ever be exactly the same making each piece unique!
