Bageecha - बग़ीचा Set of 2 Cushion Covers in aqua blue and coral
Set of two hand block printed cushion covers printed on 100% Percale 40's cotton with carved woodblocks in Jaipur, India.
The art of block printing in India has not changed for hundreds of years and is a craft that is passed down though generations of printers who, with incredible accuracy and skill, are able to create the most intricate designs. Each layer of colour is carved in mirror image into a woodblock and these blocks are then used one at a time to apply the design onto the surface of the fabric which is stretched out along a long printing table. This level of handmade craftsmanship is something that we at Blocked by Clark love to see and wish to continue supporting.
Bageecha is the Hindi word for garden and is an aerial circus theme design featuring both aerial hoop (lyra) and trapeze, which was exclusively developed for the traditional art of hand block printing and includes Mughal block print inspired floral motifs. The cushion covers are printed with bold indigo stripes on the reverse with a block printed indigo cord piping finish making them a versatile home accessory.
This colour way is inspired by the bright and intricate traditional designs that can be found all around the pink city and for me evokes the buzz and excitement I find inside the old city walls.
Due to the handmade process variation in the colour and print work should be expected, so no two designs will ever be exactly the same making each piece unique!
