Registaan - रेगिस्तान Scarf
The Registaan scarf (dupatta) is hand block printed on a fine cotton silk mix fabric with carved woodblocks in Jaipur, India.
The art of block printing in India has not changed for hundreds of years and is a craft that is passed down though generations of printers who, with incredible accuracy and skill, are able to create the most intricate designs. Each layer of colour is carved in mirror image into a woodblock and these blocks are then used one at a time to apply the design onto the surface of the fabric which is stretched out along a long printing table. This level of handmade craftsmanship is something that we at Blocked by Clark love to see and wish to continue supporting.
Wanderlust and adventure is the backbone of all of our designs and Registaan is no exception. The Hindi word for desert, Registaan is inspired by a hot air balloon safari over the Dubai desert. The sand dunes are magnificent from above, endlessly rippling into the distance. This design features an oryx I spotted on the ride back to the desert camp whose dramatic appearance left a lasting impression. The desert sand background colour is printed with a slightly dryer pigment which creates a unique texture that is evocative of the landscape it represents and the scarf features a walnut brown chevron boarder. Registaan was exclusively developed for the traditional art of hand block printing.
The scarf is lightweight and is the perfect accessory for all weathers adding a touch of adventure to any outfit.
Due to the handmade process variation in the colour and print work should be expected, so no two designs will ever be exactly the same making each piece unique!
